This little house is down on some land that belongs to my family. It is where I spent nearly every holiday of my life - including Thanksgiving until the year 2003. You see, my family had this little tradition, we would all meet down there for every 4th of July, Memorial Day, Labor Day and Thanksgiving. It wasn't the most fancy place to meet, but the little house would be busting at the seems with aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents etc. Everyone would bring a little food and we would just spend the day on the porch talking or whatever else.

This place belonged to my grandfather and he loved nothing more than to have the entire family down there for these events. He was always the last to eat, making sure that everyone else had everything they needed before he would stop for himself. My grandfather passed away in 2003, and our Thanksgiving tradition died along with him. We tried to continue having it down there, but it just wasn't the same. We closed up the little house and forgot about it.

Time has had its way with our little camp house for 5 years now. Most of the roof is gone and the floor is rotting out inside. The ceiling is falling in and it won't be there much longer. My dad lives just up the road from here on a different part of our land and we were out there today and visited the little house on the day that used to have such a different meaning than it does now. Just as we pulled up, the sky opened up and was shinning down on this special place. Maybe it was coincidence, or maybe it was something else, either way, it was a nice reminder of the times we used to have here and I wasn't going to let it go by without taking a picture to remember it.
